Internship Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have internship positions?
OHRS is a licensed behavioral health agency serving Thurston and Mason Counties through crisis services, jail diversion and hospital diversion which include houseless outreach.
We have a limited number of paid and unpaid internship positions for associates, bachelors, and graduate level students in all departments.
What can a student expect out of the internship?
Experiences of an internship will vary depending on the department and team you are working with. Some opportunities may include.

Becoming familiar with professional collaboration and consultation in a clinical setting.

Perform clinical activities with increasing level of autonomy.

Learn and practice how to conduct psychosocial assessments.

Learn and practice how to conduct safety assessments.
-
Conduct brief therapy/interventions.
-
Provide short term individual treatment.

Learn and practice how to provide crisis phone support.
-
Provide case management to individuals in crisis.
-
Give and receive feedback regarding clinical cases with supervisors.

Participant in regular collaboration with other behavioral health professionals and community providers

Learn to document in the agency’s electronic health record.
Where are clients seen?
OHRS services are provided where the clients are. These primarily occur in an outreach capacity in hospitals, jails, individuals’ homes, in unhoused encampments etc, as well as over the phone.
Types of supervision offered:

Weekly/Bi-weekly individual supervision

Group supervision may be offered depending on the number of students placed.
Responsibilities of Interns:

Interns are expected to maintain professionalism, punctuality and flexibility.

Applications are reviewed with department managers and supervisors as they are received.
OHRS staff will begin interviewing candidates and offering positions based on availability.
